New year sheet plan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neujahrsblattlan , also known as poppy seeds , is an East Tyrolean dish that is specially prepared for New Year's Day .

Manufacturing

The New Year's Blattlan are prepared similarly to the Blattlstock or the Stocktirtlan. The basic dough consists of a yeast dough that is baked in hot fat. The finished leaf is then coated with poppy seeds and lard . The poppy seed filling can be refined with honey , rum , fruit schnapps or pear stock . In the Lienz area, in contrast to the simple New Year's leaf plan, the leaf stock is very common. The individual sheets are layered on top of each other so that a tower of six to eight layers results. Finally, melted butter is poured over the leaf stick again.

regional customs

In some villages in East Tyrol it is customary for children to go from house to house, recite a New Year's poem and be presented with a New Year's leaflet.
