history

In 1888 the Neukirchener Erziehungsverein founded the publishing bookstore in order to fulfill its literary missionary concerns. The Neukirchen calendar has been published annually since 1889, first published at that time as a Christian household friend . The Christian youth friend, today the Neukirchen youth calendar “live planner”, was first published in 1911. The first large print calendar in Konstanz appeared in 1935. In 1933, the Christian publishing house Carl Hirsch was taken over. The publishing activity was banned between 1940 and 1945. From 1950 the Neukirchener Verlag, today Neukirchener Theologie , developed into a well-known theological publisher.

In 1983 the publishing company of the Neukirchener Erziehungsverein was founded by taking over the sowing and writing mission publishing house founded in 1891. Irmgard Weth's Neukirchen Children's Bible was first published in 1989. Over 600,000 copies had been sold by 2011. In 1995 the publishing company took over the Christian publishing house in Konstanz , founded in 1933 , the Friedrich Bahn Verlag and Edition Sonnenweg. Since 2007 the publisher has been operating under the name Neukirchener Verlagsgesellschaft mbH.

In 2010 the Neukirchener Verlagsgesellschaft reorganized the brands: The Neukirchener Verlag now appears under Neukirchener Theologie , Neukirchener Verlagshaus and Aussaat-Verlag are merged under Neukirchener Aussaat .

In July 2016 it became known that the publishing company would sell its scientific and theological program Neukirchener Theologie to the publishing house Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in September .

Since 1845 the pelican has stood as a symbol for the diaconal mission of the Neukirchen Educational Association. The Neukirchener Verlagsgesellschaft also has the pelican in its logo. "Vivimus ex uno" was the associated motto until 2010. Since then it has been freely translated as "Life from the One!"
