The Elfe S4 is a glider that was developed by the Swiss glider manufacturer A. Neukom. It could be obtained as a finished aircraft or as an amateur construction.
construction
Albert Neukom designed the Elfe S4 in 1969 and completed it in 1972. It is a single-seat club-class performance glider . It has a retractable landing gear and a pendulum elevator . The two-part wings with a span of 15 meters are made of one millimeter thick plywood in a sandwich construction with cardboard honeycomb filling material and have a Wortmann profile . The aircraft's best glide ratio is 37.5 at 95 km / h. The maximum speed is 210 km / h. The aircraft is only approved for non-commercial use.
The Elfe S4A is available in different versions. Some Elfe S4 were modified with a dampened horizontal stabilizer. There are also individual pieces that are equipped with winglets .
The Elfe S4D was manufactured by the youth education center (Jubi) Oerlinghausen.
