Neuwiedenthal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The name Neuwiedenthal refers to a large housing estate in Hamburg that was completed in the early 1970s. It is located east of the Rehrstieg in the Hausbruch district and west of the Rehrstieg in the Neugraben-Fischbek district . The rough boundaries are formed by the Lange Striepen road in the east, the Minnerweg in the north, the B 73 (Cuxhavener Strasse) in the south and Francoper Strasse in the west.

In the area of today's shopping center around the southern Rehrstieg and the western Striepweg there are few high-rise buildings . This is also where the Neuwiedenthal S-Bahn station of the same name is located on the Niederelbebahn , where the S3 line and the S31 line run during rush hour.

Otherwise, three to four-story prefabricated buildings of various sizes dominate. There are numerous green spaces in the inner area of the settlement in particular.

Thanks to residential accommodation for late repatriates in Rehrstieg built in the early 1990s, Neuwiedenthal became a new home for many repatriates from the states of the former Soviet Union. The property was demolished in the early 2000s. Numerous terraced houses have been built on the area in recent years.
