Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pascha (* approx. 1662 in Muşkara, today Nevşehir ; † October 1, 1730 in Istanbul ) was an Ottoman statesman and from May 9, 1718 to October 1, 1730 Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire .

İbrahim Pascha 's nickname Nevşehirli refers to his hometown, the then Central Anatolian village of Muşkara: During his time as Grand Vizier he had it significantly expanded and provided with numerous cultural facilities and gave it its current name Nevşehir ("New Town"). He received the name affix Damat (Turkish for "son-in-law") after he became Fatma Sultan, the daughter of Sultan Ahmed III. had married.

Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pascha's reign is congruent with the so-called " tulip time " (Turkish: Lâle devri ), which was characterized by cultural bloom and intellectual openness, but also by decadence and social injustice. Damat İbrahim Pascha's cultural achievements include the official introduction of printing in the Ottoman Empire by İbrahim Müteferrika in 1727, which took place on his initiative.

Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pascha's career and life ended in the so-called " Patrona Halil Uprising " in 1730. The rebels made him responsible for the recent heavy defeat of the Ottomans in the war against the Persians under General Nadir Afshar (later Nadir Shah ) demanded his extradition from the Sultan. The rebels also included the Janissaries , who were already dissatisfied with the Grand Vizier's previous attempts at military reform. Since Sultan Ahmed III. Finally felt compelled to give in, İbrahim Pasha and some of his confidants were killed on October 1, 1730 and their bodies were handed over to the insurgents. This, however, could not prevent Ahmed from abdicating soon afterwards and handing over the throne to his nephew Mahmud I.

In the chronicle Tarih-i göynüklü by Göynüklü Ahmed Efendi the events are described in detail.
