Neville Arthur Irwin French
Neville Arthur Irwin French ( April 28, 1920 - April 21, 1996 ) was a British diplomat and colonial official who was governor of the Falkland Islands from 1975 to 1977 .
Life
French was taken on February 7, 1966 as an official in the diplomatic service (HM Foreign Service) . He was appointed a member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) on November 9, 1968 .
On January 28, 1975, he was appointed as the successor to Ernest Gordon Lewis as governor of the Falkland Islands and commander in chief of the British troops stationed there, and at the same time appointed as the high commissioner of the British Antarctic Territory . On January 1, 1976, he was appointed Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG).
