Nevsun Resources is a Canadian mining company.
Nevsun Resources was founded as an exploration company in 1965, but it wasn't until the mid-1990s that the company began exploring Africa. The first projects were the Kubi gold mines in Ghana and Tabakoto in Mali . However, both were sold to finance the Bisha gold and copper mine in Eritrea .
Bisha
The Bisha ( Biscia ) deposit is a massive sulphide ore deposit (VMS) and is located approximately 150 km west of Asmara . The mine was developed from 2008 to 2010. Gold became gold in the first two years from February 2011 and copper concentrate has been produced since 2013 . In mid-2016, the flotation plants are to be expanded so that they can also produce zinc concentrate .
Bisha consists of a gold-silver-oxide zone that has meanwhile been extracted in the upper 35 m and below a mineralized area up to 475 m deep.
