The New Bomb Turks are a punk band from Ohio formed in 1993 . Their music is strongly influenced by punk rock, surf rock and also has some psychobilly elements.

The name of the band comes from the B-movie "The Hollywood Knights" by Robert Wuhl . The band's music mixes garage rock and punk elements. In their repertoire they have some cover versions of Wire , Billy Childish , New York Dolls and others.

The band has released numerous singles and EPs , but also LPs , mainly through the record companies Crypt Records and Epitaph Records , their songs can be found on many compilations . They see themselves as a live band and have therefore had a lot of appearances in Europe. In addition to gigs in smaller clubs, they also played at the 2000 Bizarre Festival .

In 2005 the New Bomb Turks announced their breakup and played another farewell tour in the United States and Europe. Private and professional reasons were given as triggers. For example, guitarist Jim Weber focused on teaching English to 10th and 11th grades at Hilliard Davidson High School.

Surprisingly, only a few years later the band played occasionally at concerts in the United States and announced further appearances, even if these will only be sporadic and not in the style of bygone days. The New Bomb Turks have also not updated their website since they were dissolved.
