The New Mexico State Route 28 ( NM 28 for short ) is a state route in the US state of New Mexico that runs in a north-south direction.

The State Route begins on the Texas border near La Unión and ends after 48 kilometers in Las Cruces on New Mexico State Route 478 . In La Unión the New Mexico State Route 273 branches off and the NM 225 to the west of Anthony . Shortly before Las Cruces, NM 28 meets Interstate 10 .

In its entire course it runs parallel to the Rio Grande , which it crosses south of Las Cruces.
