The New Rock (meaning "new rock" translated from English) is a 105 m high cliff in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 1.2 km off the southwest coast of Deception Island .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it in 1935, naming it because of its recent first mapping by Norwegian whalers around 1929.
