New York International Fringe Festival

The New York International Fringe Festival (or FringeNYC ) is an American cultural festival that takes place in Manhattan for two weeks annually in August .

The FringeNYC was founded in 1996 by the off-Broadway theater group The Present Company . It now has its own organization and staff and sells more than 75,000 cards a year.

The FringeNYC is particularly geared towards Off Broadway theaters. The spectrum ranges from classical theater pieces to experimental contributions.

FringeNYC is distinguished by its selection process with a jury. Around 200 groups presented themselves in various theaters in Manhattan during the 2010 festival.
