Newbiggin (Dacre)

Newbiggin is a town in the civil parish Dacre in Cumbria in north-west England. The place is about three miles east of Penrith in the Eden District . On the outskirts of Newbiggin was a station on the railway line Penrith-Cockermouth of the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway , but this station could be confused with a station of the same name on the railway line Settle-Carlisle and therefore received the name Blencow station , although the place Blencow continues north of this station. The station was closed in 1972.
