Newgate

Newgate was a city ​​gate to the west of the Roman / Medieval city ​​walls of London . It was between Ludgate, more west of the city, and Aldersgate, more east . From 1188 to 1902 Newgate was home to the infamous Newgate Prison . Today the Criminal Court " Old Bailey " stands at this point .

The Newgate Street just north of St Paul's Cathedral . In the west it leads to the Holborn Viaduct and in the east it flows into the Cheapside.
