The News-WG is an information format of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation on Instagram .
description
The aim of the format is news and politics to understand and have a say. The hosts Helene Reiner and Maximilian Osenstätter live and work together in a shared apartment in Munich , from which they report on current topics almost daily. In addition, the former roommate Sophie von der Tann from Berlin provides information in her own stories or in live streams, to which she is connected.
The content of the news shared apartment is produced either as an Instagram story, consisting of short video and photo sequences, or as a photo with accompanying texts in the feed of the social network. Live streams take place regularly, for example for detailed interviews with guests in the shared apartment.
The focus of the format is on presenting current events in an understandable and entertaining way. Reference is made again and again to everyday life in the shared apartment.

The News-WG started with the hosts Helene Reiner and Sophie von der Tann, who came up with the idea for the format together with Ann-Kathrin Wetter as part of their internship at Bayerischer Rundfunk . During the beta phase, Ann-Kathrin Wetter was also seen as the host and switched to the editorial team at the start of the account. The project manager is Katrin Pötzsch, the format is produced on behalf of the information department.
In autumn 2018, Sophie von der Tann moved to Berlin to work as a correspondent in the BR capital studio. In the casting for a successor, Maximilian Osenstätter prevailed, he has been strengthening the team since January 2019.
Contributing editors and community managers appear again and again as sidekicks in the articles and are then titled, for example, as "Redaktions-Tobi".

The account was officially launched in September 2018, and in July 2018 there was a two-week beta phase in which formats and working methods were tested.
Awards
In January 2019, the News WG was named “Best Instagram Account of the Year” at the “Golden Blogger” social media prize. Five journalists who developed and implemented the format also received the Axel Springer Prize in the “Creative Implementation” category. The format also received the audience award at the Smart Hero Award 2019 and an award in the “Diversity and Equal Opportunities” category as well as two awards at the European Prix Italia competition .
