Newton Book

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Newton Books are interactive digital books on the PDA Newton of the company Apple .

They offer the option of using hyperlinks to jump to individual chapters and cross-references. A search function enables important terms to be found, making encyclopedias and manuals more intuitive to use than their printed counterparts. Illustrative embedded images are also possible.

The software for displaying Newton Books is available in the Newton's ROM .

You can transfer selected text to the word processing programs via the clipboard . The PDA even reads the e-books out loud in English. This is made possible by the Macintalk software extension . Notes and bookmarks are saved and can be called up at any time.

With NewtonScript , Newton Books can be expanded into entire applications with dialogues, quiz questions and other things.

Newton Books are more powerful than Palm's Doc format or Adobe's PDFs . Newton Books are best compared to interactive web pages with Flash .
