NiHard

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NiHard is a material name for high-alloy , wear-resistant cast iron (chilled cast iron). Designation EN-GJN-HV600, EN-JN2 049 (previously 0.9630), GX 300 CrNiSi 9 5 2. Standard analysis: 9% chromium 5% nickel 2% silicon. Due to the high carbon content of 3%, a high proportion of chromium carbides is formed. By means of a suitable heat treatment , the NiHard material can be adjusted in such a way that machining is possible, since the Rockwell hardness can be around 50 to 55 HRC . Due to its properties, NiHard is predestined to be used on high-quality machines subject to wear (e.g. mills for hard grinding ).
