Behind the pseudonym of Nicci French , the hides in England living authors -Ehepaar Nicci Gerrard and Sean French . The couple made a name for themselves through crime novels and thrillers .

Nicci Gerrard (born June 10, 1958 in Worcestershire / Shropshire, England) studied English literature at Oxford University and then worked as a teacher in Los Angeles and London . She later founded a women's magazine and worked as a freelance journalist. She married and had two children in her first marriage. She met her second husband and co-author Sean French while working as a journalist for New Statesman magazine . In 1990 they married and had two more children.

Sean French (born May 28, 1959 in Bristol, England) also studied English literature at Oxford University and then also worked as a journalist. Although both studied English literature at Oxford University at the same time, they only met later.

The duo say about their working style that they research, discuss and plan together, but then each write for themselves. One of the most successful novels fear of heights ( Killing Me Softly ) was made into a film in 2001 under the direction of Chen Kaige (see Killing Me Softly (film) ). The film adaptation was criticized because it strayed quite far from the content and style of the novel and thus only became a very average Hollywood production. The author duo had their greatest success so far with their 8-volume thriller series about the psychotherapist Frieda Klein.
