Niccolò Soggi

Niccolò Soggi (* around 1480 in Arezzo ; † before July 12, 1552 ibid) was an Italian painter of the Umbro-Tuscan school.

Niccolò Soggi was an assistant and student of Pietro Perugino , to whom he is stylistically close. In addition, he was strongly influenced by the works of Pinturicchio and Piero di Cosimo . Around 1513 he worked in Rome and around 1522 in Florence . Thereafter mainly active in Arezzo, where he lived until around 1528. Further trips took him to Prato , Milan and again Rome.

Niccolò Soggi mainly worked as a fresco artist and painter of altarpieces. Images of mythological content are very rare.
