Nicholas Milanese

Nicholas Mailänder , also Nico Mailänder or Nicho Mailänder (* 1949 in Stuttgart ) is a German free climber , writer , publisher and qualified pedagogue . Over many years he gained experience in difficult rock climbing and in the nineties worked in the climbing and nature conservation department at the headquarters of the German Alpine Club DAV . He then became increasingly concerned with the history of mountaineering and climbing and published books and articles on personalities and subjects in this field of knowledge.

Under the sign of edelweiss (the history of Munich as a mountaineering city). The chronology ranges from the research trips of the universal scholar Franz von Paula schrank to the mountains south of the city to the beginning of the 21st century. In addition to numerous other topics (the register of persons alone contains 644 names), Mailänder presents in detail and critically the history of the German Alpine Club founded in Munich, and in particular goes into the anti-Semitic and National Socialist madness that raged the Alpine Club from the end of the First World War to the 1950s Has dominated for years and most recently he went to Lhasa (the life story of Peter Aufschnaiter ). It is the result of around ten years of close collaboration with the autodidactic specialist Otto Kompatscher and the Völkerkundemuseum in Zurich , which manages the estate of Peter Aufschnaiter.
