Nicholas "Nicky" Saliba (born August 26, 1966 ) is a former Maltese soccer player who played in attacking midfield . He was twice Footballer of the Year in Malta and led Valletta FC through its first glorious period in which the capital city club won numerous titles.

career

Saliba began his professional career in 1983 with the second division club FC Msida Saint Joseph and moved to the capital club FC Valletta in 1987, where he was under contract until the end of his active career in 2003. With the Citizens , Saliba won the Maltese soccer championship six times, the cup competition and four times the Supercup.

National team

Between 1988 and 2001 Saliba played a total of 68 international appearances for the Maltese national team , in which he scored four goals. He made his debut on November 23, 1988 against Cyprus (1: 1), his last international match on November 14, 2001 against Canada (2: 1). His goals came in the games against Latvia (1-0) on May 26, 1992, against Azerbaijan (5-0) on April 19, 1994, against Albania (2-1) on August 16, 1995 and against Yugoslavia (1 : 4) on June 8, 1999.
