Nicolás Casimiro

José Nicolás Casimiro Fulgencio (born April 28, 1911 in Santo Domingo , † September 17, 1964 ibid) was a Dominican singer.

Live and act

The musical autodidact became known through radio broadcasts in the Dominican Republic in the 1930s. In 1940 he was chosen as the most popular singer on the radio of Ciudad Trujillo in a competition at the Teatro Travieso . In 1943 he received a contract with La Voz del Yuna to perform with the Orquesta San José . In 1948 he was voted the most popular singer in the Dominican Republic in a competition organized by Salón Fígaro magazine .

Casimiro's repertoire consisted primarily of works by Dominican composers such as Juan Lockward , Diógenes Silva , Enriquillo Sánchez , Bullumba Landestoy and Leopoldo Gómez . In 1957 he recorded a 45 record with La Voz Dominicana with titles such as Españolita , Su preocupación and Vega vieja y Silencio . Long-playing records such as Nicolás Casimiro y sus amigos , Nicolás Casimiro canta and Ese es Nicolás Casimiro followed later .
