Juan Lockward

Juan Antonio Lockward Stamers (born July 24, 1915 in Puerto Plata , † March 24, 2006 ) was a Dominican singer and composer .

Lockward was the son of the bolero and merengue singer Luis Alejandro "Danda" Lockward . He became known as El Mago de la media voz . In 1934 he made his first public appearances in Puerto Rico. In 1935 he sang on the Dominican radio HIN , where some recordings were made.

In the 1950s he recorded with Teté Marcial Dulce amanecer by Diógenes Silva based on a text by Luis Alberti . In the 1960s, a solo LP was made with guitarists Emilio Carbuccia and Fernando Gautreaux .

Lockward made songs such as Santiago , Dilema , Guitarra Bohemia , Fruta en Sazón , Puerto Plata , Flor de Te , Poza del Castillo , Tiempo Perdido , Que Dios Bendiga Al Cibao , Felicidad , Por Que No Ha de Ser , Quiereme Cual Yo a Ti , Mi Vida Bohemia , Pagina Blanca , Allá en Mi Juventud , Cuando Yo Te Olvide , No Se Porque and Ayudame a Olvidar . They have also been interpreted by musicians such as Luis Vázquez , Eladio Peguero , Rafael Martínez , Guarionex Aquino , Rafael Colón , Fausto Rey , Niní Cáffaro and the Trio Los Panchos .
