Rafael Colón

Rafael Colón (born May 18, 1918 in Santiago de los Caballeros , † June 7, 1991 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican singer and composer.

Live and act

As a teenager, Colón played in a guitar trio for the Santiago de los Cabaleros HI1A regional radio station . In 1938 he composed the song Al Pie Del Bambu . In the early 1940s he became the singer of the Orquesta San José for the station La Voz de Yuna . In 1943 Luis Alberti engaged him as a singer for La Voz de la Fundación . He later performed with his orchestra at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo. This is where his first professional record was made, the Bolero Ven , which is considered a classic of the genre.

With the orchestra he made his compositions Luna Sobre El Jaragua and Tu No Podrás Olvidar as well known as De qué te vale and Desvelo de amor by Rafael Hernández Colón . The popular singer was featured in the media as La Espiga De Ebano and El Eterno Enamorado .
