Nicolás Conti (* 1904 in Montevideo ; † 1990 ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Career

Offensive player Conti was initially used at the beginning of his career in the position of right inner striker or right half-striker. Later in his career, he ran in the second half of the 1920s on alternating positions that most closely match today's eight and ten and was considered extremely dangerous. From 1929 until the end of his career he was a left half-forward.

Conti first played for Club San Carlos in the late 1910s. He was then a member of the Montevideo Wanderers cadre from at least 1923 to 1929 and again in 1931 . During this period, the Wanderers won during the phase of the breakdown of the organizational structure in Uruguayan football as Atlético Wanderers in 1923, the championship round organized in parallel by the Federación Uruguaya de Football (FUF). In 1924 you became vice-champion in this competition. In the same year, he also won the Copa Río de La Plata . In 1931, Conti secured the Uruguayan championship title in the Primera División with the Wanderers, who are now back under the umbrella of the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (AUF) . He played a total of 152 games for the Wanderes and scored 42 goals. He had to end his career due to an injury.

National team

Conti, who had already received a call to the national team of the FUF, was a member of Uruguay's senior team . He was a member of the Celeste squad at the 1926 South American Championship in Chile , where Uruguay won the title. In the course of the tournament, however, he was not used. In 1927 he was used in games of the Uruguayan selection against the Chilean club Colo Colo .
