The Nicolaaskerk or Hervormde Kerk ( Reformed Church ) is a church building of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands in the city of IJsselstein .

history

IJsselstein originally belonged to the parish of Eiteren . In 1310 the Nikolauskirche was consecrated and made a parish church. In 1398 a monastery with eight canons was established here. From 1532 to 1535, Alessandro Pasqualini built the church tower in Renaissance forms, a unique feature in the northern Netherlands. In 1568 the spire burned down after a lightning strike. In 1577 the Protestants took over the church, who removed the old furnishings. In 1911 the church and tower were badly damaged by fire. The tower was given a modern finish between 1921 and 1923.

organ

The organ was built between 1971 and 2002 by the organ building company Van Vulpen based on the model of an organ in Bremen Cathedral. In the course of time, the originally planned disposition was deviated from. The slider chest instrument has 33 stops on three manuals and a pedal . The actions are mechanical.
