Nicolaaskerk (Kloosterburen)
The Nicolaaskerk ( German Nikolauskirche ) is a church building of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands in Kloosterburen in the Dutch municipality of Het Hogeland ( province of Groningen ). The building is Rijksmonument under number 23668 and the tower is owned by the Oude Groninger Kerken Foundation .
history
The core of the Nicolaaskerk goes back to the church of the Premonstratensian Monastery of Oldeklooster. After the introduction of the Reformation , the monastery church passed to the Reformed in 1594. The church is still used today by a Reformed congregation within the United Protestant Church of the Netherlands as a result of the church union of 2004.
The oldest part of the church is the tower from 1658 in its Gothic-like form, the basement of which goes back to the earlier Gothic monastery church. The monastery church itself was laid down in 1815 and only replaced in 1843 by a simple neo-Gothic hall with a three-sided choir closure, today's Nicolaaskerk.
