Iongelinck . Detail from a plan of the Antwerp area (1582)

From a guarantee of February 15, 1566, which he signed for his friend Daniel de Bruyne , who was in debt with 16,000 guilders , it is known that he was in possession of sixteen pictures of Bruegel, including The Tower of Babel , Christ Carrying the Cross and the Seasons . In addition, a ten-part Hercules cycle by Frans Floris appears here, today only preserved in engravings . Jonghelinck owned a country house on the outskirts of Antwerp, where his collection of paintings was probably located. The land for this was acquired in 1547 by his brother Jacques, who also built the country house and sold it to Nicolaes in 1554. It is still on a map of the Antwerp area from 1582. It was destroyed along with other mansion buildings during the siege of Antwerp in 1584.
