Nicole Deufel

Nicole Deufel (* 1974 in Albstadt ) is a German cultural scientist .

Life

Deufel graduated from high school in Germany in 1993 and then studied art at San Francisco State University (graduation in 2000: Master of Arts) and cultural interpretation in the USA and Great Britain and received her doctorate from London Global University with the dissertation Towards a critical heritage approach to heritage interpretation and public benefit: comparative case studies of England and Germany .

Before working in Oldenburg, Deufel worked for a management consultancy in the culture and museum sector in Midlothian , Scotland . She lived in Scotland between 2005 and 2016.

Deufel teaches practical museology at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in Faculty III, Linguistics and Cultural Studies, part-time at the Institute for Material Culture.

Since September 2016 Deufel has been the head of the Office for Museums, Collections and Art Houses of the City of Oldenburg and thus head of the City Museum , the Edith Russ House for Media Art and the Horst Janssen Museum .

Deufel runs an English-language blog on the interpretation and management of cultural heritage.
