Nicox is a French organic pharmaceutical company based in the Sophia Antipolis science park near Antibes . Its shares are traded on the French stock exchange Euronext in Paris under the symbol COX and are listed in the French CAC Small . The first shareholder is OppenheimerFunds Inc., a subsidiary of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company , with 25% of the share capital . The company's market capitalization as of April 2006 was $ 1.2 billion. A research institute is located in Bresso , Italy, Nicox also conducts research on behalf of other pharmaceutical manufacturers such as Merck and Pfizer.

The company deals with the medical use of nitric oxide and is developing an anti-inflammatory drug for the treatment of osteoarthritis , which is comparable to the no longer commercially available preparation Vioxx ® . The market launch is planned for 2010. Drugs for diabetes and heart disease are also being developed. Louis J.
