Lower Saxony Lexicon (1969)

The Lower Saxony Lexicon , also known as the Lower Saxony Lexicon , is a lexicon that, according to the subtitle, conveys everything worth knowing about the state of Lower Saxony. The work published by Umschau Verlag in Frankfurt am Main in 1969 was edited by Rudolf Klein , who also made drawings in the book, while Klaus Kehren contributed the drawings of the coat of arms . Contributions were also made by Wilfried Lackert, Hansgeorg Loebel and Josef Nowak . The first lexicon about Lower Saxony to date

  • provides information about agriculture and forestry or personalities from history up to the 1960s;
  • The first, general part contains statistics and articles of a fundamental nature such as the geological and geographical structure as well as trade, traffic, industry and administration;
  • The main part deals with articles from politics, history, geography and economy, art and culture, science and research, education and training, social and health care as well as press and sport and the like in the main part under around 7000 key words. All cities and larger rural communities were described and listed with individual historical and scenic sights;
  • concludes with a then complete list of all municipalities in Lower Saxony with details of the zip code at the time, altitude, number of inhabitants, even denominational division and the district membership at the time
