Niels Clauson-Kaas

Niels Konrad Friedrich Wilhelm Clauson-Kaas (born March 24, 1917 in Kiel ; † August 17, 2003 ) was a Danish chemist and company founder. He discovered the Clauson-Kaas reaction named after him .

Life

Niels Clauson-Kaas attended Øregård grammar school . He studied at universities in Copenhagen, Zurich and Haifa and received a master's degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1943 . He switched to industry and in 1949 took over the management of a Danish laboratory for organic synthesis. He founded his own company that was active in this field in 1956 and ran it until 1987.

Honors

Clauson-Kaas received honorary doctorates from Denmark's Technical University (1979) and the University of Copenhagen (1987). He was awarded the Julius Thomsen Medal in 1963 .
