Nigel Paulet, 18th Marquess of Winchester
Nigel George Paulet, 18th Marquess of Winchester (born December 23, 1941 ) is a British peer and politician.
With the childless death of his second uncle Richard Paulet, 17th Marquess of Winchester on March 5, 1968, he inherited his nobility titles as 18th Marquess of Winchester (1551), 18th Earl of Wiltshire (1550) and 18th Baron St. John ( 1539). His marquess title is the oldest in the Peerage of England , which makes him the highest-ranking Marquess of England ( Prime Marquess of England ) according to the protocol ranking .
Membership in the British House of Lords was associated with the titles until the hereditary parliamentary seats were abolished by the House of Lords Act 1999 with effect from November 11, 1999 and he lost his seat.
The marquess now lives in Centurion in South Africa .
He married Rosemary Anne Hilton on November 25, 1967, with whom he has two sons and a daughter, the eldest son of whom is the likely title heir ( Heir Apparent ):
