Nihat Bekdik (* 1902 in Istanbul ; † September 21, 1972 there ) was a Turkish football player . Through his many years of work for Galatasaray Istanbul , he is very strongly associated with this club. On fan and club pages he is seen as one of the most important and popular players in club history. The audience and his teammates called him Aslan Nihat ( German Nihat the lion ).

Bekdik first played as a professional footballer in 1918 at Galatasaray Istanbul . Bekdik played as a professional footballer for Galatasaray for a total of 18 years and never for any other team. During this time at Galatasaray, Nihat was five times Turkish champion.

National team

His career in the national team began on October 26, 1923 in the Taksim Stadium in Istanbul against Romania , in the first game of the Turkish national team. Between 1923 and 1931 he played 18 times for the Turkish national team.

death

Bekdik died of heart failure on September 21, 1972 in his native Istanbul . One day later he was buried in front of many prominent guests in the Zincirlikuyu cemetery in Istanbul .
