Nihon Karate Shōtō Remmei

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nihon Karate Shōtō Remmei ( Japanese 日本 空手 松涛 連 盟 , officially English Japan Karate Shoto Federation , also: Japan Karate Shotorenmei , short: JKS ) is a Japanese association for karate in the Shōtōkan style. It was founded in 2000 by Tetsuhiko Asai after losing the legal succession in the Japan Karate Association . The JKS is a member of the Japan Karatedō Federation and thus the World Karate Federation .

history

The JKS was founded as Nihon Karate Shōtōkai (Japanese 日本 空手 松涛 会 , English Japan Karate Shotokai ) in 2000 by Tetsuhiko Asai, as the longstanding legal dispute over the succession in the JKA after the death of Nakayama Masatoshi in 1999 to the detriment of the group Asai was decided. Asai took over the position of technical director. There were legal problems with the name, so it was changed to the Japanese Karate Shōtōrenmei, which is still in use today.

The death of Asai in 2006 presented the still young association with a number of problems (succession etc.), which can now be regarded as resolved. In 2007, Masao Kagawa (9th Dan ) was appointed as the successor to the position of Technical Director.

activities

The JKS is particularly dedicated to the lifelong practice of karate (Japanese 生涯 空手 , shōgai karate ) to maintain physical and mental health. This is also reflected in the wheelchair karate, which was developed by Asai and is promoted and practiced in the JKS.

Attempts are made to further develop karate by spreading the kata created by Asai and creating new methods and techniques, some of which differ greatly from those in the more traditional Shōtōkan.

The JKS is also successful in sport, with success at national and international tournaments. This success is also reflected in the fact that Masao Kagawa is currently the Japanese national coach of the Japan Karatedo Federation . The JKS also provides members of the Japanese national team.

The JKS also runs an instructor training program that a woman has successfully completed for the first time.
