The Nihotupu Tram Line is a 6.5 km long light railway in Nihotupu in the Waitakere Ranges south-west of Auckland in New Zealand , which for the construction and maintenance of the dam and the water pipe on since 1907 Upper Nihotupu reservoir was used and to 24 November 2014 Rainforest Express also offered excursions for tourists, which is no longer possible due to a risk assessment.

Rail vehicles

One of the locomotives is a 3 ton diesel-hydraulic locomotive with a 40 hp Isuzu diesel engine and a top speed of around 14 km / h. It has closed cabins at both ends with sliding doors for the driver.
