Nikephoros Tur
Nikephoros Tur ( Ukrainian Никифор Тур Nykyfor Tur ; d. 1599 or later, Poland-Lithuania ) was Archimandrite of the Kiev- Pechersk Lavra (1593-1599).
Life
He came from a noble family. In 1593 he became archimandrite of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. In 1596 Nikephoros was one of the most active opponents of the Brest Union , which subordinated the Orthodox Church in Poland-Lithuania to the Roman Catholic Church . In 1597 he and his monks and monastery farmers fought off an ordered takeover of the monastery by the Uniate Church and received it as an Orthodox monastery.
In September 1599 his successor was installed. The date of his death is unknown.
