Casey Bailey (born October 27, 1991 in Anchorage , Alaska ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with Hershey Bears from the American Hockey League (AHL) since July 2019, playing in the position of right winger .
Career
Bailey was born in Anchorage in the US state of Alaska , played ice hockey there as a junior, but later in the Canadian province of British Columbia . After graduating from high school in Anchorage , he was active for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in the British Columbia Hockey League from 2009 to 2011 , before moving to the United States Hockey League for a year , where he played for the Omaha Lancers. In the summer of 2012, the attacker moved to Pennsylvania State University . In addition to his studies, he also played for the university's ice hockey team in the Big Ten Conference , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association .
From there, Bailey was signed undrafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League in the spring of 2015 . During the rest of the 2014/15 season , he was there in six games before he found himself in the 2015/16 season in the Toronto Marlies farm team in the American Hockey League . In February 2016, Bailey became part of a nine-player transfer deal between his employer Toronto and the Ottawa Senators . Together with Bailey, the Maple Leafs gave Dion Phaneuf , Matt Frattin , Ryan Rupert and Cody Donaghey to Ottawa, while they sent Jared Cowen , Colin Greening , Milan Michálek and Tobias Lindberg and a second-round vote in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft in the opposite direction . For the Senators, Bailey was only used in the AHL with the Binghamton Senators until the end of the season , to whose lineup he was also part of the 2016/17 season . During the season he completed his first NHL appearances since April 2015 in December 2016 and January 2017.
After the end of the 2016/17 season, Bailey did not receive a continuing contract from the Senators, so he joined the Bridgeport Sound Tigers from the AHL in October 2017 . He spent the 2017/18 season before Bailey chose an engagement in Europe and for season 2018/19 for HC Slovan Bratislava from the Continental Hockey League moved. However, he left the Slovak capital club after only one season, in which he only scored five points in 45 missions , and joined the Hershey Bears at the end of July 2019 , which he returned to the AHL.
