Nikias (Indo-Greek king)
Nicias was an Indo-Greek king who lived around 100 BC. Ruled. So far he is only known from his not very numerous coins. Since he clearly appears there in different ages, it has been suggested that he ruled for some time. His domain was perhaps in the Hindu Kush .
The coins of Nicias show his head in profile and Greek legends on the obverse. Various motifs appear on the back. Of particular interest is a coin that shows Poseidon on the obverse and an anchor on the reverse. It has been suggested that this representation celebrates a victory in a river battle, probably on the Jhelam .
