Nikolaus H. Schües

Nikolaus Hans Schües (born December 11, 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German shipowner .

Life

The son of the German shipowner Nikolaus W. Schües completed a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Buckingham (England) and an MBA at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, Spain in 1987 after attending school and A levels in 1985 and an apprenticeship as a shipping merchant.

Services

In 1993 he joined the shipping company F. Laeisz , and in 2004 he and his father Nikolaus W. Schües bought the F. Laeisz company, which was founded in 1824. Today Nikolaus H. Schües manages under the umbrella of F. Laeisz with the companies F. Laeisz GmbH, Reederei F. Laeisz GmbH, F. Laeisz Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH + Co.KG, F. Laeisz Versicherung AG, Nikolai Assecuranz GmbH, African fruit Compagnie GmbH, Martini Chartering GmbH, Trailer Lloyd Fahrzeugvermietung GmbH & Co. KG, Hamburgische Seehehandlung Gesellschaft für Schiffsbeteiligungen mbH & Co. KG and Hamburgische Energiehandlung GmbH a modern shipping, trading, insurance and service group. The group employs around 1,800 people worldwide on land and at sea.

From 2002 to 2008 Nikolaus H. Schües was chairman of the Schutzverein Deutscher Rheder and is a member of the board of directors of the Association of German Shipowners , the Board of Directors of the UK P&I Club and the Executive Board of BIMCO . In addition, Schües is a member of a number of supervisory boards and advisory boards of companies as well as voluntary bodies in the charitable and cultural sector.
