biography
Ordemann was the son of a butcher. A tough youth shaped him. He was married to Anna Fouckhard (1824–1877). The couple had seven children.
In 1846 he founded the liberal newspaper Courier an der Weser in Bremen . In 1948, at the time of the revolution of 1848/49 , the new newspaper experienced a great boom. Ordemann had significant influence in the liberal movement . At that time he was a member of the Bremen citizenship . In his newspaper he represented the political, liberal, bourgeois opposition in otherwise conservative Bremen. He advocated the right of citizens to petition and the ban on press censorship , rights that were enshrined in the new Bremen constitution of 1849. He ran a book printing company on Kniehauer Strasse in Bremen. In 1852 he published a chronicle of the city of Bremen , which reported on the events from 1848 to 1852. He remained an important representative of the liberal bourgeoisie until his death.
His son Johannes Friedrich Ratje Ordemann (1849–1909) continued to run his newspaper publisher with the Bremer Courier and the printing company.
Ordemann was buried in the Riensberg cemetery in Bremen.
