Ning Hao

Ning Hao ( Chinese  宁 浩 , Pinyin Níng Hào , * 1977 in Shanxi , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese director and screenwriter.

Ning began his studies at the Shanxi Taiyuan Film School in Taiyuan , then moved to Beijing , where he studied art at the Beijing Pedagogical University and graduated with his film Thursday, Wednesday . Ning then studied at the Beijing Film Academy and graduated in 2003. Ning worked on several Chinese TV productions and made music videos for MTV Asia .

Movies

After Thursday, Wednesday ( 星期四 , 星期三 , 2001) and Incense ( 香火 , 2003), Mongolian Ping Pong ( 绿草 地 , 2004) was his first major film. He initially shot Mongolian Ping Pong as a university project on the subject of table tennis, but the film was successful and was shown at several international film festivals, including the 2005 Berlinale . For the film, Ning won the Asian New Talent Award at the Shanghai International Film Festival .

In 2006, Ning's Crazy Stone was a surprise hit. The film, co-produced by Andy Lau , was shot with a small budget of 300,000 euros and grossed one million euros in the first month after its cinema release. The film also won Ning the Best New Director award at the 2007 Huabiao Film Awards .
