Nippon Badminton Kyōkai
The Nippon Badminton Kyōkai ( Japanese 日本 バ ド ミ ン ト ン 協会 , English Nippon Badminton Association , NBA for short) is the highest national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in Japan . The association was founded in March 1946 .
history
Badminton was first played in Japan shortly after the First World War . There was badminton activity in Yokohama in the 1930s, where a club in the YMCA was formed in 1937. Five years after the founding of the Japanese Association, he became a member of the Badminton World Federation , then known as the International Badminton Federation , in March 1952 . In 1959, the NBA also became a founding member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Asia Confederation , then still operating under the name Asian Badminton Confederation . The Japanese championships have been held since 1947, the Japan Open since the 1970s.
