The main product is SoarnoL , an ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer . The company was founded in 1927 as KK Nippon Gōsei Kagaku Kenkyūsho ( 株式会社 日本 合成 化学 研究所 ) and received its current name in 1928. Japan's first vinyl acetate was produced in 1936 .
In 1994 a factory for the production of SoarnoL in the USA was acquired ( La Porte ). In 2004, another plant was built for this in Kingston upon Hull .
