Nisha Kurban-Baboe

Nisha Kurban-Baboe is a Surinamese diplomat . She is a member of the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP).

Life

Nisha Kurban-Baboe comes from Nickerie , a Surinamese district on the border with Guyana . She is a sociologist and was the deputy director of the Nickerie school board and lecturer.

Diplomatic career

Nisha Kurban-Baboe has been working in the Surinamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs since February 2012. On February 12, 2013, she was appointed Suriname's new ambassador to Guyana, replacing the long-time ambassador Manorma Soeknandan , who became the new representative of Suriname to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Before her appointment, Kurban-Baboe worked for a year and a half at the Surinamese embassy in Brazil .
