Niviaq Andrea Johanne Korneliussen (born January 27, 1990 in Nuuk ) is a Greenlandic writer .

Life

Niviaq Korneliussen was born in Nuuk and grew up in Nanortalik . She is the second of three daughters of a kindergarten and school administration chief and a clerk in the judiciary. She studied social sciences at Ilisimatusarfik and then psychology at Aarhus University .

In 2012 she took part in the short story competition Allatta! for young Greenlanders, their contribution San Francisco was selected as one of the ten winning contributions and therefore appeared in the anthology Inuusuttut - nunatsinni nunarsuarmilu / Ung i Grønland - ung i verden .

In 2014 her debut novel HOMO sapienne was published about homosexuality, love and identity in Greenland. She wrote the book with the mentoring of the writer Mette Moestrup . Niviaq was inspired for the book by her own experiences with her homosexuality. The work was for the Literature Prize of the policies as well as the Nordic Council Literature Prize nominated and translated into numerous languages.

In 2020 she published her second novel Naasuliardarpi / Blomsterdalen , which deals with suicide in Greenland .
