Ibuelo is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Ibuelo is the third largest town in the province of Tiraque and the second largest town in the Municipio Shinahota, which was created in 2009 . The village is located in the very north of the province at an altitude of 267  m on the right, southern bank of the Río Ibuelo just before its confluence with the Río Chapare .

Ibuelo is located in the Bolivian lowlands on the northeastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental in the Bolivian Yungas .

The mean average temperature of the region is 27 ° C (see climate diagram Villa Tunari) and fluctuates only slightly between 23 ° C in June and July and almost 29 ° C from November to February. The climate is humid all year round , the annual precipitation is about 2,300 mm. The maximum precipitation is in the summer months of December and January with over 300 mm, less humid are the winter months from June to September with 60 to 100 mm of precipitation.

Transport network

To the southwest of Ibuelo at a distance of 172 kilometers by road is Cochabamba , the capital of the department.

The 1657 km long national road Ruta 4 leads through Cochabamba, which begins in the far west at the Chilean border at Tambo Quemado and leads across the Altiplano and via Cochabamba to Villa Tunari at the foot of the Cordillera. From Villa Tunari it is seven kilometers in a south-easterly direction to the bridge over the Río Ibuelo, and then another two kilometers on Ruta 4 to the junction to Ibuelo in a north-easterly direction.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the province of Tiraque 92.7 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
