Alec Utgoff

Alec Vladimirovich Utgoff ( Russian Олег Владимирович Утгоф / Oleg Wladimirowitsch Utgof; born March 1, 1986 in Kiev , Soviet Union ) is a British actor of Ukrainian origin. He gained international fame through the role of the scientist Dr. Alexei from the third season of the Stranger Things series .

life and career

Alec Utgoff was born the son of a cardiac surgeon and a conductor in Kiev in what was then the Ukrainian Socialist Soviet Republic . His brother Alan works as a financial advisor and, like his parents, lives in Ukraine to this day . At the age of eleven, Utgoff moved to London . At an early age he decided to pursue an acting career and after school he attended the renowned Drama Center London . In 2010 he graduated with a Master of Arts . In the same year he took his first role in front of the camera with a guest appearance in the series Spooks - In the sights of MI5 and the small role of Fedka in the feature film The Tourist .

In 2012 he appeared as Josif in the thriller The Seasoning House . This was followed by roles in the sci-fi - horror film Outpost: Rise of the Spetsnaz and in the TV movie legacy . In 2014 he played the role of Aleksandr Borovsky in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit . Between 2013 and 2014 he was in the series The Wrong Mans as Dimitri in a supporting role. Since then, there have been small roles in the films Mortdecai - Der Teilzeitguner , San Andreas , Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Traitors Like Us . He achieved his international breakthrough through the role of scientist Dr. Alexei from the third season of the Netflix original production Stranger Things .

In addition to Ukrainian , Utgoff is also fluent in English and Russian .
