The Municipio Shinahota is a district in the Department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Shinahota is one of two municipalities in the province of Tiraque . It borders the province of Chapare to the west, the municipality of Tiraque to the southwest , and the province of Carrasco to the east . Until July 4, 2009, the Municipio Shinahota was part of the Municipio Tiraque as Cantón Central Busch , until it was declared independent in 2009.

The central place of the municipality is the city of Shinahota with 5,669 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) on the northeastern edge of the district.

The municipality of Shinahota is located on the eastern edge of the Cordillera Oriental and extends from the eastern edge of the Bolivian Altiplano to the Bolivian lowlands in the east.

The climate on the northeastern edge of the municipality is tropical with a pronounced time of day climate . Six health centers are located in the Municipio Shinahota, which are concerned with the observation of mild and moderate illnesses and with measures for health promotion and prevention. Of particular importance among these centers is the Materno Infantil "San Martin de Porres" hospital founded in 1974 in Ibuelo , the second largest town in the district.
