Mette Moestrup (born December 11, 1969 in Aarhus , Denmark ) is a Danish poet and writer .

Life

Mette Moestrup grew up as the daughter of a teacher couple in the small village of Harridslev in Jylland . She majored in music at Hjørring Gymnasium and after graduation began to visit several countries, including Greenland , Tanzania and Kenya . She successfully completed a degree in comparative literature at Aarhus University , spending her semesters abroad in Paris and New York City . She broke off a subsequent doctorate and concentrated from 1998 to 2002 on her work as co-editor of the literary magazine Den Blå Port . She currently lives in the Copenhagen district of Vesterbro , where she shares a studio with Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen . As a teacher, she occasionally works on the Forfatterskolen .

Moestrup made her literary debut in 1998 with the volume of poems Tatoveringer . For her poetry collection Kingsize , published in 2006 , she was awarded the Montana Literature Prize, which was also donated in the same year . In 2018 Moestrup received the Beatrice Prize .
