Njet (game)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Njet is a trick- taking game with an interactive preliminary round. The specialty of this trick play is the preliminary round before the first cards are played. Njet can be played with 2 to 5 players.

Game material

In any case, 20 coins and a game board are required. In addition, 60 playing cards are required and a so-called card monster .

Playing cards

Up to 60 playing cards are used. These consist of the number sequence 0 to 9 where 0 occurs three times and 7 occurs four times. Four colors are used.

Card monsters

The card monster is a simple card that determines which player's points are doubled.

game schedule

The game board consists of a table with five rows and six columns. The lines are labeled as follows:

  1. Starting player
  2. Lay down
  3. Trump card
  4. Trump card
  5. Points

In the first line, the player who starts the round and discards the first card is determined. He determined not know who mixes next or who starts the first thing to take the coins (for details, see the end ).

The second line determines how many cards will be discarded before the card is first discarded. Either no, one or two cards can be discarded, two cards other than zeros can be discarded, or two cards can be given to the player on the right. The field for “do not store a card” is marked with an Njet .

The trump is determined by the third row. Since there are four colors in the game and there are six columns - the first only serves to describe the row - there is a fifth field labeled Njet . Njet means that no color is trump.

The fourth line behaves like the third line, only that the super trump is determined here. The super trumps are just the zeros of a color.

And the fifth line determines how many points there are per stitch. There are options from 1 to 4 and also −2 points per trick / prey.

procedure

The game can be divided into several rounds which have all three phases and in the second phase have several rounds.

Preparations

Before the game starts everyone chooses a game color. A player is also determined to be the first dealer.

Then, depending on the number of players, certain cards should be sorted out:

  • With 4 or more players, no cards are discarded. Thus each player receives 15 - with 4 players - or 12 - with 5 players - cards.
  • With 3 players, three sevens per color are sorted out. These 12 cards are no longer used and each player has 16 cards.
  • With 2 players, all excess cards are set aside after the deal. Each player receives 15 cards which leaves 30 cards.

After the cards have been sorted out, they are shuffled by the dealer. Except when two players are playing: The cards should be shuffled beforehand.

These shuffled and leftover cards are dealt to the players so that each player has enough cards depending on the number of players. Then all 20 coins are dealt to all players. Remaining coins are placed on the starting players on the board that are not available. So the z. B. the 4th and 5th starting player with only three players ( ). If there is no coin left - for example with 4 players - the player to the right of the first player places his coin on a player who is not present.

NJET phase

In the NJET phase, players try to use their hand as well as possible. The coins are placed on the game board in a clockwise direction. The fields on which the coins were placed are not used. For example, if a player places his coin on the field for no trump, it is certain that a trump will come up this round. So it makes sense to place the coins on those fields that are of little or no use. For example, if you have no cards of one color, it makes sense to place your coin in the trump and / or super trump line on this color.

It must be noted that one field must remain free in each line.

After 20 fields have been covered it is clear who starts the trick game, how many cards must be discarded, which color is trump and super trump and how many points are added per trick / booty.

Stitch phase

So we have reached the stab phase. Now the cards are put down and the starting player decides with whom he works in a team. With two players there is one player per team, with three players there is once two and one player per team, with four players there are two players per team and with five there is a team of two and a team of three players. If the teams are not of the same size, one of the weaker teams gets the "card monster" mentioned above. Who gets that is determined by the starting player.

After it has been clarified how the teams look and possibly the card monster has been awarded, the start player places any card.

The following players must discard their card according to the following rules:

  • The played card in the trick must be served . If you have a great trump card in the right color, you don't have to play it.
  • If you cannot operate, any other card can be played.
  • If trumps or super trumps are played, trumps and / or super trumps must be served. This means that trump can be served with super trump and vice versa.

After everyone has discarded a card, it must be determined who takes the trick:

  • The one who last laid his trump card.
  • Otherwise the one who discarded the highest trump last played.
  • And otherwise the highest card of the suit played last.

The won trick is then placed individually face down in front of you so that it is easier to count the tricks later.

prey

Every zero that does not come from your own team is a so-called "booty". This later counts as an additional trick and is placed face up next to the trick. This means that up to three zeros can be caught. Zeros that come from your own team are of no particular importance, and no distinction is made between super trump and normal zero in the evaluation.

Rating

After the fixed number of laps has been reached, the score is scored. The following applies to:

  • 2 or 4 players: 8 rounds
  • 3 players: 9 rounds
  • 5 players: 10 rounds

All stitches are counted and the number of hives is added. If you still have the card monster, this number is then doubled. These are then added up with the others on the team and multiplied by the number of points per trick / prey .

New passage

So that everyone can be the "first player", it is advisable to make as many rounds that it is a multiple of the number of players. In order to start a new round, all coins are removed from the board and the neighbor clockwise becomes the dealer. This shuffles the cards again and starts all over again. If you play with three players, the cards that have been sorted out should not be put back in, as they would be sorted out again anyway.

variants

In order to avoid the isolation of a player it is possible not to designate a starting player at the beginning. So only 16 coins have to be dealt.
